Flounder's Journey from the Ocean Depths to Your Plate: Pan-Fried Salmon Steak Recipe

Once upon a time, in the shimmering depths of the ocean, lived a cheerful and adventurous little fish named Flounder. Flounder was known for his kind heart and his ability to find humor in any situation.

It happened so, Flounder found himself swimming through a vibrant underwater kingdom. The colorful coral reefs surrounded him, and schools of fish swam gracefully by his side. But as Flounder continued his journey, he noticed a foreboding shadow creeping across the ocean floor. Curiosity got the best of him, and Flounder couldn’t resist following the shadow to see where it led.

To his surprise, the shadow led him straight to a mysterious cave. Inside, Flounder discovered a wicked witch named Ursulda, a sea witch infamous for her evil ways. Ursulda was stirring a bubbling cauldron filled with all sorts of eerie ingredients. Flounder’s heart skipped a beat as he realized the witch’s intentions.

Ursulda cackled with delight, revealing her plan to turn Flounder into a delicious fish stew. Flounder shivered with fear as Ursulda’s long, green tentacles reached out towards him. He desperately looked around for a way to escape, but his dream self seemed trapped in this nightmarish scenario.

Just as Ursulda’s tentacles closed in on Flounder, he suddenly woke up with a start, gasping for breath. Realizing it was just a nightmare, Flounder let out a relieved sigh. He chuckled to himself, amused by the absurdity of his dream. “A sea witch trying to cook me? Now that’s a fishy situation!” he exclaimed, laughing at his own joke.

With his nightmare behind him, Flounder decided to make the most of the day ahead. He swam out into the open waters, greeting his fishy friends with a wide smile. As he recounted his silly dream to his friends, they too found the humor in the fantastical tale.

From that day forward, whenever Flounder faced a challenging situation or found himself in the midst of danger, he would always recall his nightmare with Ursulda and say, “Well, at least I’m not about to become a fish stew!” His friends would laugh, and Flounder would find the courage to tackle any obstacle that came his way.

And so, Flounder continued his underwater adventures with a lighthearted spirit and a knack for finding humor in the darkest of dreams. After all, life is always better with a splash of laughter!

How to Make Salmon Steak

Step 1. Prepare the Ingredients

The steak should not be too thick; otherwise, it may not cook through. A thin piece of fish is also not suitable as it may turn out dry rather than juicy. The optimal thickness is 1.5-2 cm.

It is preferable to use chilled fish as it is much healthier than frozen. If you only have a frozen fish steak, you need to thaw it correctly. This is necessary to preserve as many beneficial substances as possible. Immediately after removing it from the freezer, place the frozen product in the refrigerator for 5-6 hours, and only then fully thaw it at room temperature.

Step 2. Prepare the Salmon Steak

Rinse the fish and pat it dry with paper towels.

Step 3. Sqeese Lemon Juice

You will need the juice from the lemon. You can use ready-made lemon juice from the store. If you squeeze it directly from the citrus fruit, rinse it with very hot water beforehand, as this will extract more juice. Pour the lemon juice over the fish steak – this will eliminate any fishy odor.

Step 4. Add Spices

Sprinkle a little salt. At this stage, you can not only add salt but also use your favorite herbs and seasonings. Perhaps you will choose Provencal herbs, or maybe thyme and garlic powder. Follow your taste preferences! In my opinion, noble fish doesn’t really need any additional flavorings; salt and pepper will be sufficient.

Step 5. Add More Flavor

Drizzle the fish with 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Rub the steak with it and let it marinate for about 10 minutes.

Step 6. Fry the Steak

Heat olive oil in a frying pan. Do not let that happen!

Place the steak in the pan. Fish cooks quickly, so fry it over low heat for 5-7 minutes on one side. Then carefully flip it and cook for the same amount of time on the other side until it reaches the desired doneness. If you are unsure, cover the pan with a lid and let it cook for an additional 5 minutes.

Step 7. Serve the Fish

Serve the pan-fried steak of red fish immediately while it’s hot. This dish does not require any side dishes. It is best to serve it with fresh seasonal vegetables and herbs, as well as light vegetable salads.

Is Recipe Suitable for Keto and Low-fat Diet?

The recipe for pan-fried steak of red fish can be suitable for a keto diet, as it includes salmon, which is a fatty fish rich in healthy fats. However, it is not specifically designed as a low-fat recipe, as it uses vegetable oil and olive oil for frying. While these oils contain healthy fats, they are still high in calories. If you are following a low-fat diet, you may consider using less oil or opting for cooking methods that require less oil, such as baking or grilling the fish instead of pan-frying it. Additionally, be mindful of the portion size and other ingredients you consume throughout the day to meet your specific dietary requirements. You can also see how to cook crab.
