How to Make Cabbage with Pork in the Oven

Step 1. This dish is very simple, quick, and affordable. Start by preparing the necessary ingredients as listed. You can use any meat you like: pork, beef, lamb, chicken, or turkey. Choose a part of the animal that suits your taste. In this recipe, I’m using boneless pork shoulder. You can replace the tomato juice with crushed tomatoes in their own juice or diluted tomato paste.

Step 2. Remove the damaged outer leaves from the cabbage. Shred the cabbage. You don’t need to grease the baking dish since there will be enough liquid and fat. Place the shredded cabbage in the dish and season with salt.

Step 3. Wash the zucchini, remove the ends, peel it, and slice it into rings. Place the zucchini rings on top of the cabbage and season with pepper.

Step 4. Wash the pork and pat it dry. Cut it into medium-sized pieces. Place the pork on top of the vegetables. Add chopped garlic. Sprinkle salt and pepper on top. You can also add other spices according to your taste.

Step 5. Pour the tomato juice over the dish, you can also dice fresh tomatoes into wedges.

Step 6. Cover the dish with foil and bake in the oven at 200 degrees Celsius (392 degrees Fahrenheit) for 1-1.5 hours. The exact baking time depends on the type and size of the meat pieces, the tenderness of the cabbage, and, of course, the oven.

Step 7. Sprinkle the cooked cabbage with meat with finely chopped fresh dill and serve. Enjoy your meal!

In addition to pork, you can use any other meat in this dish. Keep in mind that the cooking time, taste, and calorie content may vary. For example, beef takes longer to cook than pork, and chicken fillet or turkey requires less time.

Since the level of saltiness, sweetness, bitterness, spiciness, sourness, and heat tolerance varies for each individual, always add spices and seasonings according to your taste. If you’re using a spice for the first time, be aware that there are some spices that should not be overused (e.g., chili pepper).

Note that ovens can vary, so the temperature and cooking time may differ from those mentioned in the recipe. To ensure success with any baked dish, make use of useful information about the characteristics of your specific oven!
