An incredibly delicious chicken and rice casserole recipe is suitable even for a festive table and will surprise all guests. Cooking will require some time and a small list of products.  All the ingredients are pretty simple and not expensive. The result is undoubtedly worth the time and invested effort. You can also cook minced chicken casserole.


  • Round rice — 2 tbs.
  • Eggs — 4 pcs.
  • Onion — 3 pcs.
  •  Dill — 20 g.
  • Carrot 50m g.
  •  Sour cream — 200 ml.
  • Chickent breast — 300 g.
  •  Cheese — 200 g.
  •  Garlic — 1clove
  • Salt, black pepper — to taste
  • Small cherry tomato and any greens you prefer for decoration

How to make cheesy chicken and rice casserole

Step 1. Peel the onion and carrot and wash it well with cold water. Cut onion into small dices and grind the carrot. Pour oil into a frying pan and fry the onion until “glazed.” It should be transparent and only slightly golden.

Step 2. Cut the fillet into dices. This is very easy to do if you put it in the freezer on a flat surface in advance. It will freeze a little in about half an hour and it will be pretty easy to cut it evenly.

Step 3. Add the diced fillet to the onion and carrot in the pan. Let it fry a little. Remember to add salt to our filling at this stage. If you are using seasonings, now is the right time to add them. The same applies to pepper.

Step 4. Fry the chicken with onions and carrot until tender. The onion should turn golden, and the fillet will brown a little. The flesh of the chicken should change color to white.

Step 5. Finely chop the dil. Remember that it needs to be washed well before this and dried on a napkin. Wet pieces of greenery will stick to the knife and to the board. We send the dill to the fillet with onions, cover it with a lid and turn off the gas.

Step 6. Now, the filling should cool down a little. It is better to put it in a flat plate and put it on the table.

Step 7. The rice should be boiled until cooked. This can be done in a saucepan or in a steamer. Do not use in this case those tricks that make the rice crumbly: do not wash for too long and do not drain the first water after boiling. The stickiness of the rice will help us make the casserole dense. Water for rice needs a little salt, and as soon as everything is ready, you need to add a spoonful of vegetable oil to it and mix.


Step 8. Grate the cheese specified in the recipe. You will need half at once and set aside the second part for a while.

Step 9. Separate the egg whites from the yolks. Yolks are mixed with cheese and added to the filling, and you must mix everything well.

Step 10. Whisk the whites with salt to a soft foam. Now we carefully shift them into the finished rice and slowly and carefully mix everything.

Step 11. It is necessary that the proteins completely envelop the whole rice, every grain. Rice with whites looks like fluffy white snow, giving a certain charm not only to the dish itself but also to this stage of cooking.

Step 12. Prepare the baking dish, which can be greased with butter or covered with parchment paper. We spread half of the rice on the bottom and level the top.

Step 13. Put the chicken with onion and cheese on the rice, smeared with egg yolk. Try to make the top more evenly and avoid getting a drop where the fillings are more or less.

Step 15. We put rice on the chicken again. We spread the whole out of the bowl and carefully level the top. It needs to be made as smooth as possible so that the grains that look out do not burn and become hard.

Step 2. Put sour cream with garlic on grated cheese. As always, equalize everything and keep the edges of the form clean. Sour cream will quickly burn and spoil the whole flavor of the finished dish.

Step 3. Bake the casserole at 180°C (356°F) for about 40 minutes. You can cut the dish into pieces as soon as it cools down.
