Origin

Churros, a traditional Spanish dessert, were originally invented by shepherds who craved something sweet and warm on cold nights while tending their Churra sheep. They would fry the dough over an open fire in a pan, and thus the churros were born.

Churros are fried rings of custard dough that are served for breakfast in cafes throughout Spain and are also commonly made at home. The dish has become a cult classic in Spain and is popular in Latin America, France, Portugal, the southern United States, and Spanish-speaking Caribbean islands.
