As can be seen from the recipe, it consists of two parts: pan-fried hake and mashed potatoes. The combination of a side dish and fish is wonderful. The hake is very tender and potatoes have neutral taste that make fried hake taste brighter.

Stage 1. Pan fried hake

Ingredients

  • Hake — 1 kg.
  • Flour — 100 g.
  • Salt — to taste
  • Eggs — 2 pcs.
  • Black ground pepper to taste

How to make pan-fried hake (recipe steps)

Step 1. If the fish is frozen, it must first be thawed. Rinse the hake under cold water and remove the scales. The scales are very small, so it is quite easy and quick to peel off with a knife. Cut the hake into serving pieces.

Step 2. Roll pieces of hake in flour.

Step 3. Brake eggs. Stir them up and add salt and pepper. Soak pieces of hake in this egg mass.

Step 4. Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan and lay out the pieces of hake rolled in flour. Fry hake over medium heat, without covering the pan with a lid, first on one side until golden brown (about 10 minutes). Then turn over the fish pieces and fry on the other side for 7-8 minutes (until golden brown).

Step 6. Next, fry the fish from the side of the cuts on both sides (put them on the cuts) so that our pieces become golden and crispy on all sides. Our fish is ready when the pieces are browned on all sides. Transfer the fish pieces from the pan to a serving dish. Serve delicious fried hake with mashed potatoes (my choice here), or rice.

How to make mashed potato with fried onion

Step 1. Peel potatoes, cut them into large pieces, put in a saucepan and add salt. The water should cover all potatoes. Bring to a boil, lower the heat and simmer for 20-30 minutes until the potatoes are soft. Drain the water and mash the potato.

Step 2. Prepare the onion. First, peel, wash and cut it into small pieces. Heat the oil in a frying pan, and fry the onion until golden brown. If you consider it oily, put the onion in a sieve to remove excess fat. Then add the fried onion to the mashed potato and mix well.
