Cheese orzo pasta is cooked quickly and in just one saucepan. It will be an excellent breakfast or side dish for dinner. A pleasant spicy taste and aroma of the pasta is given by fried onions, garlic, and grated parmesan. Due to the cheese, the pasta will be viscous and creamy. Boil the orzo pasta with the stir-fry in chicken or vegetable broth until all the liquid has been absorbed, and at the very end, stir in the grated parmesan (or Romano cheese) and fresh herbs. Serve immediately before the cheese has set. Orzo pasta can be replaced with rice if desired.
- Orzo pasta – 2 cups
- Olive oil – 2 tablespoons
- Onion- 1 small pc.
- Garlic – two cloves
- Chicken broth – 800 ml.
- Grated parmesan or Romano cheese – 100 g.
How to make cheesy orzo pasta
Step 1. Preparing the recipe: Heat a 20 cm non-stick saucepan with a tight-fitting lid over moderate heat. Add olive oil, onion and garlic. Then fry for 2-3 minutes. Add broth to the pot and bring to a boil. Add the orzo pasta and bring the broth to a boil. Cover with a lid and turn off the heat.
Step 2. Cook at a low simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, or until the liquid is absorbed and the pasta is tender. Remove the lid and add cheese. Salt and pepper to taste. You can also mix in any fresh herbs to make the taste even better.
