How to make chayote fritters

Step 1. Remove the skin and inner sprout from the chayote. Cut the peeled chayote into slices about 0.5 cm thick and set aside.

Step 2. In a convenient bowl, pour the flour and add a little cold sparkling water. Mix with a whisk until a thick batter is obtained (similar to pancake batter). Do not add salt to the batter.

Step 3. Heat the oil for frying to 170 degrees.

Step 4. Dip a few chayote wedges in the prepared batter and fry a few at a time in the hot oil.

Step 5. Fry the chayote slices on both sides until golden brown.

Step 6. Once cooked, remove the chayote from the deep-fryer and place on a paper towel to remove excess oil. Salt the chayote while it is still hot.
