If you like milkshakes, then there is a high probability that you will also like this winter drink. The recipe for homemade eggnog is especially relevant on Christmas Eve. Besides like H. Sakurazaka said: “What else for the elves to do on Christmas Eve but to let their hair down and drink a a little eggnog.”

How to cook homemade eggnog

Step 2. In a large bowl, beat the egg yolks with a whisk or electric mixer until they become lighter. Slowly add the sugar, whisking constantly. Next, whisk at high speed until a fluffy mass is formed.

Step 3. Mix the milk, cloves and cinnamon in a thick-bottomed saucepan. Heat slowly over medium heat until the milk mixture is hot but does not boil.

Step 4. Slowly add the hot milk mixture to the egg mixture, mix the ingredients to prevent the eggs from curdling. Pour everything back into the saucepan.

Step 5. Keep the mixture over medium heat, stirring with a wooden spoon, until it thickens slightly. If you have a cooking thermometer, keep it on fire until the mixture reaches 70 ° C (158 ° F).

Step 6. Do not allow boiling; otherwise, it may curdle. (If the mixture suddenly curdles, you can save it by passing it through a blender.)

Step 7. Remove from heat and add cream.

Step 8. Strain the mixture through a sieve to remove any lumps that may have formed. Let cool for one hour.

Step 9. Add vanilla extract, nutmeg, and bourbon or rum for alcoholic eggnog (or exclude the alcohol for the children). Serve the drink hot or cold.
